About PJS

Bought my first set of aquariums 45 years ago, a 55 and 40 show and have been hooked ever since never looking back. Started breeding fish and selling to pet stores in the early 90's had a system of 60 tanks in my basement and grew every live food you could think of. Bought out one wholesaler in the mid 90's and started wholesaling to stores in the Midwest region. Bought out my second wholesaler in 1999 and added feeder fish to our availability, this was a big step for PJS so we Incorporated the business 12/28/98 and at our peak we were selling almost a million feeders per month. We purchased the warehouse in Brownsville in 2000 to be centrally located to all of our clients and have room. Then bought out a third wholesaler in 2001 a fourth wholesaler in 2003 and a fifth in 2005. Talk about tanks, but they all fit and we had well over 1000 aquariums and 20,000 gallons of feeder space. In the 2000's times started to change. The industry was changing, the small independents that built the industry started disappearing as big box stores started buying direct, importing, transshipping, even though they were not equipped to to do so, thus PJS must also change. So I started putting all of this hard work to use in a different way, a different business model and what you get is PJS now. PJS livestock is now available to everyone, retail and wholesale. The quantity and volume discounts are available to all.  By offering an incredible pricing structure to everyone, along with the widest selection, offers the hobbyist the selection they want at a reasonable price, while still offering the stores access to the highest quality retail ready(old school) livestock. Remember there is no profit margin on dead fish and raising the profit margin to cover the lost fish is not the answer.
