Rasboras: Harlequin rasbora, chili rasbora, and lambchop rasbora are calm, gentle schooling fish. Livebearers: Guppy, platy, molly, swordtail, and Endlers live peacefully in community tanks. Dwarf Gourami and Honey Gourami: Peaceful and colorful fish that use labyrinth organs to breathe air near the top of the tank. Dwarf Cichlids like German blue ram, Bolivian rams are colorful additions to tank. Other Gentle Bottom-Dwellers: Otocinclus catfish and kuhli loach share the lower part of the tank without competing aggressively for food. Invertebrates: Neocaridina shrimp (such as cherry shrimp), Amano shrimp, nerite snail, and mystery snail generally coexist safely with Corydoras. Other Corydoras Species: Keeping them in a group with other peaceful Corydoras species helps them feel secure, as they prefer being in groups of six or more of their own kind.
Avoid Housing With Large or territorial cichlids like Oscar, firemouth or dwarf parrot will stress, bully, or injure bottom-dwelling corys. Fin-Nippers and Boisterous Barbs: Tiger barb and aggressive tetra can nip at the delicate fins and sensitive barbels (whisker-like feelers) of Corydoras. Aggressive Bottom-Dwellers: Boisterous loaches or overly territorial bottom-dwelling species can push corys around during feeding time.

Description

Catfish Corydoras Melanistus

Corydoras melanistius (also known as Hoplisoma melanistium or the Melanistius / Bluespotted Cory) is a peaceful, bottom-dwelling freshwater fish native to coastal rivers and tributaries in Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. Tank Size: Minimum 15 to 20 gallons (with a longer footprint rather than tall height). Fine, smooth sand or soft, rounded gravel. Avoid sharp or coarse materials that can scratch their bellies or damage their sensitive barbels. Dim lighting with plenty of hiding spots, such as driftwood, leaf litter, botanical items (like Indian almond leaves or alder cones), and low-lying live plants like Java moss. Must be kept in a group of at least 6 individuals (ideally more) to feel safe and display natural shoal-swimming behavior. Extremely peaceful and timid. They do well in community aquariums with other non-aggressive fish like small tetras, rasboras, and peaceful bottom or mid-water dwellers. Avoid aggressive cichlids, large territorial fish, or rough substrate. Sinking catfish pellets, small tablets, flake foods that drift down, and live or frozen treats like bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp, and micro-worms. Ensure food actually reaches the substrate where they feed, and clean the tank regularly since they are sensitive to dirty substrate and poor water quality.
