PJS Reef Moonshine keeps it simple. When we talk levels we keep it all in PPM and mg/L, these are considered the same value for our moonshine purposes. It actually would need a conversion due to the fact that our saltwater does not have a specific gravity of 1, like freshwater does, so you must multiply or divide by the fraction of your specific gravity, if you wanted to convert and be that way, BUT WE MAKE SHINE.

Animals are living currently at these current levels, these levels did not suddenly change and they shouldn’t be suddenly fixed to put your mind at ease.  So following the rules of ACCLIMATION (which is what you are doing) slowly altering the chemistry is the proper approach, adjusting your dose to slowly bring your desired level back to its destination.

Need to have the discussion of saturation, maintenance vs. repair dosing. Saturation is when you reach the point of matching consumption. In the beginning we adjust the dose to bring an element to the desired level, this is repair dosing. From that point on, now only maintenance dosing is required, which is different than repair dosing, usually lower and the intention is to match consumption maintaining saturation.

Discuss the trend of the application and consumption rate of elements. At the top elements are more focused on Skeletal formation with a slower consumption rate, understandably as this is the base for growth of corals, must build a strong steady base to be successful. Then it starts to transition to both skeletal and biological, with some slow, some fast and some med rate of consumption, obviously due to the fact that they are utilized in combination to work together and incorporate other elements to form a proper foundation. Then a full transition to biological with fast consumption, which leads to the understanding  that these are essential to be present for proper development and growth for a full and prospering life.

• Use distilled water, NOT RO water, as RO water can and usually is inconsistent due to the condition of the filters , pressures and repeatability.
• Mix elements thoroughly shaking repeatedly and allow to fully dissolve for 24  hours before use.
• DISOLVING CHEMICALS-BE CAREFUL, WEAR APPROPRIATE PPE, ADEQUATEY VENTILATED AREA, DISOLVE SLOWLY BY DISOLVING INTO A SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER, THEN ADD TO THE TOTAL VOLUME. Strontium is a must for this.
• NEVER MIX CHEMICALS IN DRY STATE or BEFORE BEING DISOLVED.
• Correctly entering data is of paramount importance. You don’t enter it right, what comes out won’t be right.
• Conduct regular testing when adding/dosing chemicals to supplement elements. If your unsure…DON”T DOSE.
