Vibrio Infection in freshwater Tropical Aquarium Fish. This one goes a little further it can infect invertebrates like shrimp. Mainly a brackish and saltwater disease, but it can infect freshwater specimens also.

Identification

Can be all, any number, or only one of from the list:
Usual signs are convulsive twitching and then death.
Severe hemorrhaging in the internal body cavity.
Lesions and hemorrhaging of the skin.
Many times there are no visible signs, just twitch shake, convulse and die.

Reproduction

Always present, just need a weakened host.

Causes

Elevated temperatures.
Overcrowding.
Contaminates in the water.
Poor water Quality and poor husbandry foster the outbreak.
The fish are at risk from starvation, malnutrition, improper diet, incomplete diet, cold, stress from transport, unsanitary condition in the tank that burden their processes.

Treatments

Water quality must be improved after treatment with a gram negative antibiotic.
Oxytetracycline, Tetracycline, Chloramphenicol

Some fish are more susceptible than other.
Many times there are no visible signs, just twitch shake, convulse and die.
This bugger can live at all temperatures.
Usually an additonal infection on top of other bacterial infections.
