Description
PJS Tropical Synodontis Multipunctatis Cat Fish
Also known as the cuckoo catfish, is an active and heavily spotted catfish from Lake Tanganyika in the African rift valley. It grows up to 6 to 10 inches and requires a minimum of 55 gallon tank or larger. They need hard alkaline water (pH 7.5–9.0) hardness 10–20 dKH. A fine sandy bottom to protect their sensitive barbels and is best with abundant rock work caves. Good water movement and strong oxygenation are a must. Best kept in groups of 3 to 5 individuals to spread out any minor aggression. Known as the “cuckoo” catfish because they practice brood parasitism—dropping their eggs into the mouths of spawning mouthbrooding cichlids.
