Description
Crab Hermit Scarlet
Deep scarlet red legs with a bright yellow face. One of the safest hermit options for delicate reef aquariums because they rarely harass tankmates or snails. They are small and stealthy, meaning you need a larger group (often 5–10 per 10 gallons) to effectively clear a tank. They require stable water parameters and are highly sensitive to copper. Will eat nuisance algae (including green hair algae and cyanobacteria) and leftover fish food detritus. If natural algae is scarce, feed them dried seaweed (nori), algae wafers, or small meaty portions like mysis shrimp. Always keep a variety of slightly larger empty shells scattered in the tank. A shortage of alternative housing will cause these crabs to attack and kill snails for their shells. Generally reef-safe with corals.
