Description

Anemone Long Tentacle Mixed

commonly known as the long tentacle anemone or corkscrew tentacle sea anemone, is a species of sea anemone  belonging to the family Stichodactylidae. Found widely across the Indo-Pacific region, including Australia, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the Indian Ocean. Dwells in shallow soft bottoms, sand pockets, or sand flats adjacent to coral reefs, often at depths of 5 meters or less. It buries its column in the sediment and can retract entirely when threatened. It occasionally serves as a hosting anemone for certain species of clownfish, though it is frequently found in the wild without any fish present. Needs 3 to 5 inches of sand or rubble substrate so its foot can bury safely. Their long tentacles contain specialized stinging cells (nematocysts) that can harm or kill delicate fish, invertebrates, and neighboring corals.
