Description

Butterflyfish Heniochus diphreutes S/M reef safe not aggressive

also known as the false Moorish idol, is a small marine fish recognized by its white body, two wide black diagonal stripes, yellow fins, and a long white trailing dorsal filament. Found across the tropical and subtropical Indo-Pacific, from East Africa and the Red Sea to Hawaii and Japan. Gathers in large, active schools in open water near outer reef slopes. Feeds mainly on zooplankton. Young fish and sometimes adults act as cleaner fish for other marine life like sunfish and turtles. Peaceful and best kept in small groups of three to five.
