| Compatibility | Peaceful schooling fish like Cardinal Tetra, Neon Tetra, or Rummy-Nose Tetra stay in the middle/upper water column and do not compete for bottom space. Small, peaceful bottom-dwellers like Panda Cory or Pepper Cory get along well with plecos as long as there is enough floor space and food. Dwarf South American cichlids, such as Bolivian Ram, German Blue Ram, or Apistogramma species, inhabit the lower-to-middle zones peacefully. Hardy schooling fish like Harlequin Rasbora or Celestial Pearl Danio add active movement to the upper levels of the tank. Hardy types like Pearl Gourami or Dwarf Gourami swim near the top and middle and tolerate warm tropical water. Molly, Platy, or Swordtail can work if your water hardness matches their needs. |
| Avoid Housing With | Goldfish require cold water and produce too much waste, conflicting with the Snowball Pleco's warm-water requirements. African Rift Valley cichlids or large aggressive cichlids will bully, stress, or nip the fins of a bottom-dwelling pleco. Keeping multiple Hypancistrus or bottom-dwelling plecos together can lead to cave and territory disputes unless your aquarium is very large with plenty of visual barriers and hiding spots. |

Description
Pleco Snowball LDA33
Snowball Pleco (scientifically known as Baryancistrus sp., also designated as LDA33 or L142) is a popular freshwater sucker catfish from the Rio Tapajós basin in Brazil. Requires a well-matured tank (minimum 55 to 75 gallons) with strong water movement, high oxygenation, smooth river rocks, and driftwood caves. Pleco snowball is deep black or dark brown body covered in large, bright white or yellowish spots. Grows up to 10–12 inches in the wild, though often slightly smaller in home aquariums. Thrives in warm, tropical water ranging from 79°F–88°F. Omnivorous grazer; feeds on biofilm, algae wafers, sweet potatoes, zucchini, sinking pellets, and occasional meaty foods like bloodworms.
