Abdominal Dropsy Disease in Freshwater Tropical Aquarium Fish is a gram negative bacteria, that when pronounces it is usually to late. Treatment for this disease is best conducted as a prophylactic upon arrival and receiving as it is highly contagious and quickly populating under certain conditions.

Reproduction

Once a host is infected, large numbers of the bacteria erupt back into the tank from the entire host, impacting all other tank mates to the disease.
Even with out a host, the bacteria can remain viable and reproduce for months in the water, waste. sludge, rocks and decorations.

Causes

Poor water Quality and poor husbandry foster the outbreak.
The fish are at risk from starvation, malnutrition, improper diet, incomplete diet, cold, stress from transport and when unsanitary condition in the tank that burden their processes.

Treatments

Can only be treated in the early stage with antibiotics for gram negative bacteria.
Furan, Chloramphenicol
